Intel breaks the 6GHz frequency barrier
Intel said its fastest processor in the desktop processor category is now available for purchase starting today for $699.
The US technology giant's processor (Core i9-13900KS) won this title for being able to break the 6GHz frequency barrier for the first time.
The new processor belongs to the thirteenth generation (Core i9-13900K) series of processors, which last year approached the 6GHz barrier with a frequency of 5.8GHz thanks to (Turbo Boost) technology.
This technology allows Intel to break the rule that each processor has a specific frequency at which it operates. This technology changes the frequency of the processor. It is used to increase the speed of performance in processors by increasing the frequency of the core, as it allows the processor core to operate at a frequency higher than the basic operating frequency at which it usually operates.
The new Core i9-13900KS is the first CPU to reach 6GHz without overclocking, using Intel's Thermal Velocity Boost technology.
It is worth noting that the specifications of the (Core i9-13900KS) processor are similar to the specifications of (Core i9-13900K), as they contain 23 cores - 8 of them for performance and 16 for efficiency - and 32 links (threads) between the cores, and 36 MB of smart cache (Intel Smart). Cache), and 20 PCIe slots.
The Z790 and Z690 motherboards will support the Core i9-13900KS with a BIOS update, and retailers will start offering the processor starting today, starting at $699.
It is noteworthy that the latest processor from Intel comes just weeks before the launch of its competitor (AMD) series processors (Ryzen 7000 X3D), which the company claims that the processor (Ryzen 9 7950X3D) will be "the ultimate processor for gamers and content makers."
It is also noteworthy that the new announcement from Intel comes a day after it announced the fourth generation of (Intel Xeon Scalable) processors, the (Intel Xeon Max) series, in addition to the Intel Max graphics processing unit series for data centers.
